MAYOR WELCOMES JOBNET TO SOUTH EAST SHEFFIELD

Residents of South East Sheffield can now take advantage of friendly, free, professional job advice right on their doorstep - with a new Jobnet recently opened in Beighton.

Jobnet already offers valuable help and support to thousands of Sheffield people through an ever-expanding network of sites across the city, but is the first in the South East of the city.

The new site, on High Street, Beighton, was officially opened by the city’s Lord Mayor, Jackie Drayton, and Doug Low, Chief Executive of the Centre For Full Employment (CFFE) who coordinate and fund the Jobnet network, on Monday 14th August and now offers a full job-brokering service to the community, including: support with writing CVs, filling in application forms, interview techniques, and help in overcoming barriers to employment. Jobnet Advisors are also able to link clients’ skills with job opportunities throughout the city via a unique job-matching database used across all Jobnet sites.

Ajaz Anwar, Jobnet Project Manager said: “We’re confident Jobnet will have a positive impact on the lives of those living in the South East of the city. We look forward to welcoming everyone in the area, who could benefit from the support and advice Jobnet can offer right on their doorstep.”

Doug Low, Director of CFFE said: “The Jobnet network of job brokering services has already helped a vast number of people overcome barriers to employment, and find full or part time work in the past two years since it began.

“There has been such a tremendous impact on the whole of the city, from the lives of local people, who are able to get into employment, to local employers who can benefit from an increased availability of skills offered by a widened labour market.

“We hope that Jobnet at South East Sheffield will help to bring the city a step closer to achieving CFFE’s vision of assisting anyone who wants to work, into work.”

Jobnet is delivered thanks to funding from the European Social Fund and Yorkshire Forward, with match funding from local regeneration funds.
