JOBNET AT FIRTH PARK REACHES OUT TO YOUNG PEOPLE AT LOCAL FESTIVAL

The city-wide free recruitment service Jobnet is encouraging young people in the city to use their service for support with their employment needs.

Jobnet at Firth Park recently attended a young people’s event, in a bid to highlight the service to young people from their area of the city, and hundreds of young people queued up to get advice from Jobnet advisers.

Jobnet at Firth Park, one of the fourteen Jobnet services located throughout Sheffield, recently held a stall at the Firth Park Young People’s Festival and dedicated Jobnet advisers promoted employment vacancies and the support available locally to people looking for work.

Jobnet Adviser Graham Ward who set up the Jobnet employment information stall, said: “I was really impressed by how many young people came up to the Jobnet stall. A lot of people assume the service is just for adults so it was really encouraging to see so many young faces in the crowds. We’re delighted so many young people have shown an interest in what we have to offer. Many young people even booked appointments to come and speak to us at our Firth Park branch.

“I’m really glad Jobnet was a part of the festival because it turned out to be such a good way of approaching young people and informing them of all the work opportunities available in the area and the services we provide.”

The Firth Park Young People’s Festival is funded by the Sheffield Single Regeneration Budget 5 & 6 and organised by the North East Network. The event featured a wide variety of youth organisations and agencies from across the city, keen to engage with local young people.
